Arturo C. Taca, Jr., M.D., INSynergy Treatment Center Founder, Elected as Regional Director of ASAM

Jan. 31, 2013 - PRLog -- (St. Louis) – Arturo C Taca, Jr., M.D., Diplomate- American Board of Addiction Medicine, a psychiatrist based in St. Louis, Mo  and founder of INSynergy Treatment Center, was just recently elected to the Executive Board of American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).  He will serve as alternate Regional Director for Region VII which covers seven states - AR, OK, KS, LA, MO, NE, TX – and his term will run from 2013 to 2017.

“The field of addiction medicine has expanded significantly over the past several years, and the understanding of the brain and its circuits has led to the treatment of addiction as a medical illness. Being elected to the Executive Board of ASAM  is an honor for me personally but also gives me an opportunity to advocate for the growing field of Addiction Medicine and encourage my medical colleagues to refer clients for professional, state-of-the-art, treatment,” said Dr. Taca.

Dr. Taca is among some 2,500 physicians in the country certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM), an independent medical specialty board. ABAM sets standards for physician education, assesses physicians’ knowledge, and requires and tracks life-long continuing education.

He  was also voted one of the Best Doctors of America in Psychiatry. This distinction is only offered to physicians who have been selected by consensus among their peers to be included in Best Doctors. About 5 percent of all doctors in the United States are recognized by their colleagues as the result of a nationwide survey in which doctors cast more than one million votes.

Dr. Taca, has had a private practice since 2006 and launched INSynergy Treatment Center in 2011, a premier alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility serving patients throughout the Midwest.

Prior to founding INSynergy in 2011, Dr. Taca completed his psychiatric residency training at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, where he was Chief Resident of the Department of Psychiatry. He is currently a clinical instructor, and continues to teach and to supervise residents at Saint Louis University School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and Neurology and also at MERCY hospital in St. Louis County.
