Westphalian will be working with the first company in Turkey licensed to manufacture Germanischer Lloyd (GL) certified megawatt-class wind turbines. This company is a major player in the Turkish wind sector due to its strategic partnership with AMSC Windtec of Austria and is now undertaking independent wind farm project constructions.
Turkey's 48,000 MW of wind potential exceeds every other continental European country. Installed wind capacity in Turkey has grown by 3500% from 2006 to 2012. The country seeks to produce 30% of its total electricity needs via domestic renewable sources by 2023. This 90MW project will help Turkey achieve its renewable energy targets.
