Learn to Save a Diver's Life at Our World Underwater 2013

Jan. 30, 2013 - PRLog -- If you drive a car often enough, you know eventually you will personally know someone who has been in a car accident.  This is no different with scuba diving.  If you are scuba diving often enough, eventually you may need to step up to the plate and help save a diver's life.  This year's Scuba Expo will help you do just that.

Approximately two-thirds of divers with decompression illness have evidence of damage to the nervous system.  These signs are often vague and can go unrecognized by a scuba diver.  This can cause them to be dismissed as insignificant or not dive-related, in turn, delays treatment.

At the Our World Underwater, OW-U,  Mark Linse will be holding a series of Diver's Alert Network courses, also known as DAN classes. One of the classes is called, "Neurological Assessment Course".  This program enables the participant, the diver, to obtain the essential information about a scuba diver who has a possible diving injury.  It also teaches the diver what information should be relayed to emergency services when they arrive.  Being a scuba diver, you may need to save a life one day.  This course will help you do just that.

This amazing 4 hour class will cover topics including: Identifying a diving emergency, identifying when it is appropriate to conduct an On-Site Neurological Assessment and how to conduct an On-Site Neurological Assessment.  All of this is being held at the Scuba Expo, Our World Underwater near Chicago.

Our World Underwater is the largest Scuba Expo in the Midwest.  OW-U will be hosting many workshops and seminars during the show February 15- 17, 2013.  Room is limited, so please sign up in advance. Also visit the exhibitor booths and the children's activity area where kids learn about the underwater world.  

Mark Linse is a twenty-six year veteran of the Chicago Fire Department. Mark has lots to bring to the table for scuba divers.  As an EMS educator, Mark has been instrumental in training thousands of people in CPR and the use of Automated External Defibrillator. Mark is a very active PADI Course Director and DAN Instructor Trainer.
