Virgin expands tube wi-fi network

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan. 30, 2013 - While Virgin (http://mediacentre.virginmedia.com/) free wi-fi par se is coming to an end on the London Underground at the end of January, all passengers will continue to have free access to Virgin Media’s comprehensive wi-fi portal, with up-to-the-minute Transport for London (http://www.tfl.gov.uk/) (TfL) travel updates and great London entertainment and news, alongside a choice of Virgin Media wi-fi Passes to keep everyone connected.

The passes are available from £2 per day, with weekly and monthly passes available at £5 & £15 respectively and early birds in February qualifying for three months for the price of one. The service will, however, remain free for Virgin Media (http://mediacentre.virginmedia.com/), Vodafone (http://www.vodafone.co.uk/), EE (http://www.ee.co.uk/), T-Mobile (http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/) & Orange (http://www.orange.co.uk/) customers

The wi-fi service is currently active in 92 London Underground stations with plans for another 11 stations are coming online this week, including Hampstead, Tooting Broadway and Great Portland Street with plans to install more stations throughout London, with around 120 stations due to be connected by the end of March 2013.
The Virgin Media’s wi-fi service on London Underground was launched ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games and made available to all Tube passengers for free throughout 2012. Virgin Media confirmed plans to wholesale the service in June 2012 and announced EE (http://www.ee.co.uk) and Vodafone as wholesale partners in November 2012.
