“It sounds like a large number but it’s completely doable,” said Lucretia Dearfour, one of the convention’s organizers, “While we aren’t the billionaire philanthropists we like to pretend we are the Steampunk community really does like to give back.”
Steampunk is roughly defined as an artistic movement which spawned from Victorian Science Fiction and encompasses most any application of retro aesthetics to modern technology.
Spearheading the effort is New Hampshire Steampunk group The Secret Swan Society. In order to help boost donations the Secret Swan Society and Steampunk Industrial Revolution are looking to make a competition out of the donation process but no specifics about the competition have been made public at this time.
