Broadmoor Medical Lodge Names Loava McCarthy Director of Nursing

Jan. 28, 2013 - PRLog -- Broadmoor Medical Lodge, an upscale post-hospital recovery, skilled nursing and long-term care community scheduled to open early 2013, has named Loava McCarthy director of nursing. The announcement was made by Shane Lewis, partner of SCC Healthcare Group.

“Loava has served as the director of nursing at another one of our healthcare communities in Rockwall County, and we are excited that she has accepted the position as director of nursing for our brand new community, Broadmoor Medical Lodge, that is opening this year,” said Lewis. “She has a true passion for not only nursing but for serving the senior population. I know Loava will ensure that the guests and residents of Broadmoor receive the best care possible.”

McCarthy received a bachelor’s degree in business management, as well as a bachelor’s degree in nursing and an associate’s degree in electronics. After a career as an electronic technician and also as a supervisor of postal operations for the U.S. Postal Service, McCarthy took a different path when her daughter was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. In 2004, she was hired as the director of nursing of a small, long-term care facility and helped the community receive two deficiency-free surveys. In 2008, McCarthy served as a corporate nurse traveling to nine different long-term care communities helping train and educate DON’s on how to best do their jobs. It was in 2010 that she was hired as the director of nursing for SCC’s Royse City Health and Rehabilitation community.

I will always strive to give the best care with dignity and respect. I want Broadmoor to be the type of community that people would choose second, only to their home.”

ABOUT BROADMOOR MEDICAL LODGE

Broadmoor Medical Lodge, currently under construction and scheduled to open early  2013, is locally owned and operated by SCC Healthcare Group, headquartered near Rockwall County.   Broadmoor Medical Lodge is the first new skilled nursing community to be built in Rockwall since the 1950s.  The upscale center with hotel-style amenities will cater to post-hospital recovery and rehabilitation as well as traditional long-term care.  Broadmoor Medical Lodge will be a designated Diabetes Education Center – the only one in Rockwall.

The 52,000 square foot center will have the capacity of 140 beds. The center will feature a separate and designated section for post-hospital recovery, upscale suites, large flat screen TVs and a private courtyard. Guests will receive various levels of physical, occupational, speech, ultrasound, electronic stimulation, wound and IV therapy provided by a seasoned team of rehabilitation professionals.    

Admission to Broadmoor Medical Lodge will be initiated by a physician, hospital social worker or discharge planner.  The primary service area will include Rockwall, Heath, Rowlett and surrounding communities.
