Philadelphia International Music Festival Doing Their Part to Help “Restore The Shore”

Philadelphia International Music Festival announces Hurricane Sandy Benefit Concert, One Night Only

PRLog - Jan. 28, 2013 - OCEAN CITY, N.J. -- Ocean City, NJ- The Philadelphia International Music Festival (PIMF) is proud to announce a one night only event featuring one of their alum’s, Madison Marcucci, a graduate of the Juilliard School, and her sister, Michal Marcucci student with the Baptist Regional School in Haddon Heights. The Marcucci girls are the daughters of Philadelphia International Music Festival’s CEO Sandra Marcucci. These sisters are performing a benefit concert for the Hurricane Sandy victims at Ocean City Tabernacle in Ocean City, New Jersey on April 20th.

On October 29, Hurricane Sandy battered New Jersey’s shoreline; flooded Hoboken along with other towns. What started off being known as “Frankenstorm” debilitated mass transportation from New Jersey up to New York for weeks following and claimed many lives throughout the state. Residents have been forced to wait in seemingly never ending lines to fuel up their cars and even longer to gain access to electricity.

The Marcucci girls were born and raised in New Jersey with their family who has lived here for generations. They have fond memories of their childhood summers being spent with their friends and family at the Jersey Shore, “I cannot remember a summer that was not spent on Jersey beaches,” Madison explains as she reminisced. On April 20th, 2013, Madison Marcucci, a 25-year-old violinist who married her high school sweetheart at PIMF last year, will be performing solo: Tchaikovsky, Mozart, and Bach; together, both Madison and her sister, Michal Marcucci, an 18-year-old violinist who has been playing since the age of 5 and studies with Davyd Booth from the Philadelphia Orchestra, will be performing Vivaldi’s Winter. “We wanted to give back to the community that helped us grow up,” the Marcucci sister’s both agree that, “Music is a beautiful way to bring beauty to those who have been through disaster. We are delighted to have this opportunity.”

To reserve tickets to this free one night concert event or for more information, please contact Sean McGrellis from PIMF at (856) 875-6816.

PIMF began as a 40-student program founded in the home CEO Sandra Marcucci.  It has grown in 15 years to include three camp programs in two states and two countries, with more than 300 young musicians attending programs over the course of 2012 alone.  This year marked the festival program’s largest attendance count ever.
