Jan. 28, 2013 - PRLog -- Quality Life Center received a grant of $500 from York Children’s Foundation for items for the dance and martial arts classes used in the ACE (Arts, Character and Education) afterschool program for at-risk youth in an underserved area of Fort Myers. Highly structured activities include academic achievement and tutoring, youth development, martial arts, computer technology and performing arts such as dance, drama, music, and media. Youth development programs are designed to promote leadership and instill values which will serve youth into adulthood. The arts are an important part of Quality Life Center’s program as they instill discipline and focus, help build self-esteem and socialization skills and improve physical health. The check was presented to the center by local sponsor, Erma Boyd-Dorsey of Boyd Funeral Home.
