As part of its sponsorship for the Forum, which was organized for the third consecutive year, Umniah was the main telecommunications provider, and as a contribution to the Forum’s workshops, events, activities, and competitions, Umniah awarded the contestants with several prizes including ten valuable handsets. The forum was attended by about 300 specialists in this growing field.

On this occasion Umniah’s CEO Ihab Hinnawi said: “Social media networking has strongly forced itself during the past three years where its role became more than social networking and turned into an interactive marketing and promotional platform. It is an effective media tool that raises awareness about building communities and economies."
Hinnawi added: “We sponsored the Arab Social Media Forum which succeeded in establishing an interactive platform that enhanced the awareness of the importance of social networking in communication, media and marketing."
The latest official figures show that the number of Facebook users in the world exceeded 45 million users including 2.5 million in Jordan while Twitter users in the Arab world are around 4 million including 36 thousand users in Jordan.
From his end, the Founder and President at Arab Social Media Forum, Malik Shishtawi, stressed on the importance of telecommunications companies’ support and particularly Umniah leading to a successful Forum that aimed to talk about social media and its positive results which can be helpful for small and medium size projects.
Shishtawi said: “The Forum is evolving year after year and this driven by developments in the social networking field which started to enter the daily life of all users. If used properly, social networking can become an important tool that companies could benefit from to successfully formulate effective communication strategies and plans. "
