FoodBev Media is delighted to announce the Beverage Innovation Awards @ Drinktec – sponsored by Rexam Beverage Can.

Jan. 28, 2013 - PRLog -- Following the success of the Beverage Innovation Awards @ Drinktec in 2009, the industry’s leading awards scheme returns to Messe München in 2013.

27 awards will celebrate excellence and innovation in six categories including drinks, ingredients, packaging and manufacturing. The awards will also include a focus on environmental sustainability and reward creativity in marketing. Finalists and winners will be presented at a special event during Drinktec 2013.

The Beverage Innovation Awards @ Drinktec is sponsored by Rexam Beverage Can – a global leader in beverage cans, producing 60 billion cans each year mainly for Europe, the US and South America.

Other associate sponsors announced so far include Aptar and Sensient Flavors. The ‘Best environmental sustainability initiative category’ is sponsored by Plastic Technologies Inc.

The Beverage Innovation Awards @ Drinktec is in association with Unesda, the Union of European Beverages Associations, Wafg, the German non-alcoholic drinks trade association, and Drinktec – the world’s leading trade fair for beverage and liquid food technology.

“2009 saw what was described as ‘the beverage industry’s own Oscars’ at Drinktec as the finalists and winners from 340 entries were presented , and we are looking forward to repeating or beating that success in 2013,” said FoodBev Media group editorial director Bill Bruce.

“Our annual awards scheme receives a big boost every four years as ‘the Drinktec effect’ really focuses both brand owners and suppliers on innovation and creativity. It will be fascinating to see new drinks and ingredients ideas alongside step-changes in packaging and manufacturing and for 2013 we’ll be putting special emphasis on environmental sustainability initiatives.”

“Rexam Beverage Can is delighted to partner with the Beverage Innovation Awards @ Drinktec – a decision that highlights the importance that we as a company place on innovation within the industry, said Kym Hamer, Marketing Manager New Product Development for Rexam Beverage Can Europe. ‘Rexam endeavours to push the boundaries with developments such as our FUSION aluminium bottle and new FUSION Contour prototypes and this new partnership allows us to champion others who make similar advancements in the beverage industry.’
