By: EVO Dining Worcester’s Best Chef Competition was held at Mechanics Hall to a sold out crowd of foodies and dozens of Worcester restaurants. EVO’s Executive Chef & Co-Owner, Albert Maykel III is named Worcester’s Best Chef 2013. Competing against 20 other chefs, Maykel would be selected by Judges to compete against three other finalists in an Iron Chef Cook- off. Chef Maykel's dish came out on top. Chef Maykel also won two other awards at the competition, a Judge’s Award and a People’s Choice Award. Chef Maykel is the Executive Chef and Co-Owner of EVO Dining, which recently took home Worcester Magazine’s Best Overall Restaurant and Best Place to Be Seen. Chef Maykel served a Braised Beef Short Rib with a Cajun Sweet Potato Puree & a Thousand Island Demi-glace as well as a Tuscan Chicken Macaroni & Cheese Sautéed Chicken with fire roasted tomatoes, bacon crumbles, scallions, a pesto cheese sauce, crumbled Chevre, crumb topping & an aged balsamic reduction.
