Okay. I will be the first to admit it. I discovered the Erica Durance phenomenon late. But this does not diminish my adoration for her performance as Lois Lane in Smallville.
Yes. I know that she has left Smallville behind to move on to bigger and better things. But, in my opinion, it is her amazing portrayal of Lois Lane for which, I predict, she will be best loved.
Why is that?
I think it's quite simple. We got to watch her for 7 years. You can fully dimensionalize a character when you have that much time to work with.
The Saving Hope medical drama was okay. But after watching her as Lois Lane, a character with such humor, zestiness, and sexual charisma, it was hard, for me anyway, to watch SH.
I hated seeing her so damn sad all the time.
I longed for the fun, spirited Erica Durance from Smallville!
If I was her casting agent Ms. Durance would never be in any role that didn't allow her to play up to her wit, charm, and vivaciousness.
And, again, I for one never bought into the whole SH romance. I kept seeing Michael Shanks as Hawkman and Daniel Gillies as the creepy vampire that came back to life from Vampire Diaries.
Alas, I guess never to escape the clutches of a well liked role is the risk that every actor takes.
So forgive me Dear Ms. Durance (or should I say Mrs. Palffy) I just happen to be one of your loyal fans still 'stuck in Smallville.'
By the way, I love the job that all of the cast members did; Tom Welling, Allison Mack, Kristin Kreuk, and Justin Hartley among my favorites.
Kudos to the musical director for choosing the perfect pop culture songs that time stamped each episode. (I don't think that enough credit has been given to the creators of the musical beds that underline each episode either).
