The Rock Academy participates in FIRST Robotics, a national robotics program for youth. The computer-controlled, mechanical robots are designed and controlled by students. The mission is to inspire young people to be leaders in science and technology by engaging them in exciting, mentor-based programs that build skill and knowledge in science, engineering and technology.

WHEN: Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
WHAT: The Rock Academy High School Robotics Team will host the San Diego FIRST Tech Robotics Tournament, the final regional qualification tournament prior to the San Diego Championship on Feb. 23. More than 240 participants from 24 Southern California teams are expected to compete in the tournament, and as many spectators are expected to attend.
WHY: The Warriors’ Robotics team, among the top teams in the San Diego and Los Angeles areas, have already qualified for the Los Angeles and San Diego regional championships.They will host, but not compete, in the Rock Academy tournament on Feb. 9.
ABOUT THE ROCK
The Rock is San Diego’s largest church and the 19th-largest church in the nation according to Outreach Magazine’s 2009 “100 Largest and Fastest-Growing Churches in America” survey.
