The winning raffle tickets were drawn during halftime of a home sporting event. The drawing for Massillon’s Chevy Sonic took place during the Massillon/McKinley football game, where Obie pulled the winning ticket on the 50 yard line. The Jackson Schools drawing took place in center court at the Jackson/Perry basketball game in December. The winning ticket was pulled by Tim and Craig Sanders of Progressive Auto Group. Both Sanders brothers, owners of Progressive Auto Group, graduated from Jackson High School. The winners were Sandra Rivera of Massillon, and Donna Smith of Jackson Township. Upon winning the Sonic, Sandra mentions it’s “the best thing I’ve ever won…besides my husband.”
The prize, a 2012 Chevy Sonic LTZ, was a fully loaded subcompact hatchback. The car was wrapped in a removable vehicle skin applied, and later removed, by Dr. Wraps of Canton, Ohio. The wraps featured colors and mascots representing the schools they were donated to. The Black Granite Metallic Sonic given to Jackson Local Schools was wrapped with a skin designed by a student from the Jackson High School Art Department.
Congratulations to the winners, and as Craig Sanders says, “thank you for your support.”
