Immutable domains never go away

Jan. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Websites seem to be always changing or disappearing.  ShofarDomain describes immutable domains where a site never changes, and even if one server goes away, others that don’t have to have any relationship with the original owner, can publish copies that can be found at the original domain name.  This is an ideal solution for fixed information or stuff that you really need to find again.

A just released video from ShofarDomain (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_InggK4UMs) describes how the technology works and some potential applications.  Immutability opens the door to new ways of distributing and archiving data.  Once a site is marked as immutable and a hash is generated, it cannot be changed.  Any copy can be validated against the public hash in the domain system to verify the data.



Any party can then publish copies of the data that become available via the original domain name.  This means that if the original publisher ceases to host the site, any alternative provider can do so perpetually.  Offline copies can also be made with confidence in the validity of the data.

While missing the December 31, 2012 go live date, February 2013 remains viable to see the technology fully operational.  The DNS diagnostic tools are already live and in a second generation.  The dataset of initial TLDs is in place and viewable.  ShofarDomain’s DNS resolver will find rootless domains, ICANN’s root as well as several of the alternative roots.  The technology is poised to radically change how DNS works and challenge the centrally controlled ICANN system.

Domain name ownership, rather than renting, no central authority with the rootless technology, and now the immutable domains will give the technology behind ShofarDomain a firm foothold in the market place.  ShofarDomain (http://ShofarDomain.com) is an idea whose time has come.
