"Google's algorithm changes in 2012 changed everything,”
MIND is one of about 40 development companies in the world actively using RDFa, which is now Google's preferred method of website indexing. It is an aspect of search engine optimization (SEO) that is a part of website coding.
“Programmers will be expected to understand and implement RDFa on websites from now on,” says MIND co-founder and chief developer David Zimmerman. “Google is weighing RDFa heavily in their search algorithms because it allows easier interpretation of definitions and relationships on your website. It takes more time and effort than traditional HTML.”
Zimmerman's interest in RDFa and it's relation to the web was fueled by a conversation with John S. Bristios in 2012, one of the top RDFa experts. “It just made sense to learn it early,” Zimmerman explains. “Because we knew major changes were coming last year and we're trying to keep our clients ahead of the proverbial curve in the challenge of getting their website found online.”
