One day before Thanksgiving of 2010, Venessa Kimball  had overwhelming convictions to create a story from a very intriguing idea; the idea of piercing wormholes. That singular idea would develop into memorable and charismatic characters unfolding a unique story line, resulting in the passion and perseverance to publish and promote her first novel.  Piercing the Fold: Book 1, a Paranormal/ “Fringe” Science Fiction novel was published on July 2, 2012.  Having discussed experiences with other authors via Facebook, Venessa anticipated a very long and arduous road to getting noticed in such a competitive genre.  To her surprise,  Piercing the Fold: Book 1 was welcomed immediately with praises and reviews taking note of her unique style and writing ability.  

From that moment, Piercing the Fold: Book 1, with its strong female protagonist and edgy take on pseudo- science, was grabbing attention and making readers talk about this unfamiliar and unexplainable reality revealed in this series.

Between July2, 2012 and January 15, 2013, Venessa Kimball’s Piercing the Fold: Book 1 has been downloaded 1000 times digitally by readers globally.  

Since publication in July, 2012, Venessa has received over  twenty-three 5-star  reviews for Piercing the Fold: Book 1 on both Goodreads.com and Amazon.com combined.

In October of 2012, Venessa Kimball was approached by a private investor to fund the full-scale sound production of a multi-voice over talent cast audiobook for Piercing the Fold: Book1, which she gladly accepted.   Like Piercing the Fold: Book 1, the audiobook will be unique and edgy for the listener.  Kimball says, “The intention was to create an experience for the listener that would create a movie in their mind. If the listener was to close his or her eyes, they would be able to draw the scene as well as the characters by the interaction of the voices.”

The audiobook is wrapping up final takes and will be due to release in 2013.  

In January of 2013, Venessa Kimball was humbled by recognition from  The University of Texas at Austin, Texas Exes Alumni magazine, The Alcalde, for being and Alumni Author.  Kimball says, “When I saw my name and a picture of Piercing the Fold: Book 1 in The Alcalde, I had no words, only tears of joy.  To receive recognition from a place that taught me to never give up on what I believed in was the apex of publishing my first novel.”

So, how did Piercing the Fold: Book 1 become a series?   Venessa Kimball never intended to be a stand-alone novel.  Kimball says, “When I embarked on the journey of creating Book 1, it was very evident that this was going to be too much meat for one novel.  The characters were too complex, rich, and charismatic to package neatly into one book. The storyline and plot were too intense to put such a barrier on it.  This storyline and these characters were meant to unravel into a series of books from the very beginning.”

With persistence and discipline, Venessa didn’t miss a beat when her readership asked when the second installation would be released.  Eight months from the release of Piercing the Fold: Book 1,  Surfacing the Rim: Book 2 will be released; March 14, 2013.  Having a stout fan base already  for her series, Venessa Kimball has released a beta-read copy to only a handful of trusted and lucky  fans to get a preview of where the series will take them in book 2.

March 5, 2013 through March 14, 2013,  Venessa Kimball will be delving into the Piercing the Fold series’  characters, storyline, settings,  and much more with fourteen extraordinary book review bloggers on a ten day blog tour.  Every day of the tour, a new topic pertaining to the Piercing the Fold series will be unveiled along with cool prizes and giveaways at each blog stop!  The tour will progressively take the followers through the unraveling of Piercing the Fold: Book 1 and finish on March 14th, 2013 with the release of Surfacing the Rim: Book 2.
