Venice Area Mobile Meals, Inc. Announces Board of Directors for 2013

The board brings experience, leadership and commitment to guide the efforts of the all-volunteer organization.
 
Jan. 24, 2013 - PRLog -- Venice Area Mobile Meals, Inc. is pleased to announce the election of its Board of Directors, effective January 23, 2013. The new Board of Directors for 2013 are President Nigel Fairbank, Vice President Janice Bartner, Treasurer Joan Bartlett, Assistant Treasurer Barbara Gilbert, Transportation Officer Michael Sipple, Directors at Large Sara Peterson, Irene Smith-Childs, Executive Office Manager Alice Dudley, Past President Donald Dwiel and Board Member Emeritus Robert Nicholson. Each board member will serve a one year term.  

President Nigel Fairbank is an active volunteer with Venice Area Mobile Meals, Inc, and has previously served as the organization's Vice President during 2012 and Technology Officer since 2011. President Fairbank has been a full time resident of Florida for the past eight years and a Venice area resident since 2009. Mr. Fairbank has had a successful Information Technology career as president and business owner of his own technology solutions firm for the past 20 years, with another 25 years of prior experience in marketing, consulting, human resource management, and systems development. He will continue to address the information and technology requirements of the organization.

President Fairbank reports "Venice Area Mobile Meals, Inc. has its challenges to meet the growing demand within the community for its services, while maintaining a dedicated team of over 200 trained volunteers to service the demand. I am confident that we will continue to be successful, and gain the continued support of the community."

While implementing the organization's compliance with newest regulatory requirements, Vice President Janice Bartner will also continue to provide leadership in public relations and its internet presence, with focus on volunteer recruitment, recognition, fundraising, public awareness and communications.  Janice brings over 25 years of related career expertise and volunteer service to the organization.

Treasurer Joan Bartlett and Assistant Treasurer Barbara "Bobbie" Gilbert continue in their officer's roles, bringing financial expertise, fiscal responsibility and a combined record of 18 years of volunteer service, experience and dedication to the organization.

The Board of Directors welcomes two new board members, Transportation Officer Michael Sipple and Director at Large Alice Dudley to a seat on the board. Michael will be responsible for the training and placement of approximately 90 new volunteers a year, while managing meal delivery volume and load balancing on 16 routes. His career in transportation, healthcare, and service in the public and private sectors will serve him well as Transportation Officer.  Michael and his wife are also volunteer drivers, delivering meals on one or more days a week. Alice Dudley is the organization's Executive Office Manager, providing the coordination and training of over 12 regular office managers, several substitutes, and new office volunteer applicants. Alice brings eight years volunteer service and experience to the Board of Directors, while also continuing to serve as Office Manager one day a week.

The re-elected Directors at Large will continue to provide their leadership, and impart their collective 60 years of volunteer service and experience to the organization.  The Board of Directors is pleased to have Past President and retired CPA Donald Dwiel, Board Member Emeritus Robert Nicholson, Route Director and Volunteer Driver Sara Peterson, and Irene Smith-Childs return to the board for another term.

President Nigel Fairbank is pleased to lead the organization in its 44th year of providing a warm noon-time meal to residents in the greater Venice, FL area who are unable to prepare a meal due to a physical or mental disability. President Fairbank is confident of the all-volunteer organization's continued success, with the experience, leadership and commitment of its newly elected Board of Directors, and dedication of a fine group of over 200 community volunteers. “Our volunteers make a difference in the lives of many each day, one meal at a time.”
