If this legislation passes, Iceland will be the first country to protect individuals from weight discrimination. This action could lead to other countries taking similar steps. We commend Sigrun Danielsdottri, an Icelandic psychologist, who is fighting to include weight to the protected classes in Iceland’s proposed constitution. Research has shown that weight discrimination and bias exists and has devastating results, especially in employment settings.
