Jan. 24, 2013 - PRLog -- Jennings-Bates who is known for his adventure antics for charity is joining over 100 world class paraglider pilots in an attempt to fly off the summit of the worlds tallest free-standing mountain. Mount Kilimanjaro, standing at 19,340’ is a popular climb among tourists, but the government has not sanctioned a paragliding flight until this event.

Australian entrepreneur and paraglider pilot, Adrian McRae wanted to organise a legendary adventure.. something that would provide a thrill for the participants and yet leave behind a meaningful contribution to the local social infrastructure.

“I spoke to Adrian last year about the project and we discussed what he wanted to achieve by raising a million dollars for three charities that work in the country of Tanzania. It took a lot of effort to get the permits in place for the adventure and you only need to spend a short amount of time talking to Adrian to realise that his heart is in the right place” said Jennings-Bates, adding “I am thrilled and fortunate to be part of the team and of course, Rally4Life as a charity will benefit from the exposure I can generate although they currently work in Kenya and not Tanzania.

The three chosen charities for the “Wings of Kilimanjaro” are Plant With Purpose, One Foundation and Worldserve, all of whom are actively working on projects in the region now.

The pilots will be spending several days ascending the mountain before attempting to fly from the summit on or around February 5th 2013.

“I am sure it will be an epic adventure for Mark who was able to lead a team in Australia last year to a new paramotor world record. He will be spending some time helping the charities there once his feet are back on the ground and of course, he can do some research on the magnitude of the poverty in Tanzania for our board of Director’s to evaluate” said Jackie Jennings-Bates, President of the Rally4Life Foundation.

A new partner for this adventure is Apecorp who have provided Jennings-Bates with state of the art solar energy and green energy equipment. This will allow Jennings-Bates to keep his followers updated on the progress and activities of the team on his facebook page, www.facebook.com/markjenningsbates as a portable solar panel charges his equipment while he climbs.

Anyone interested in following the progress of the team can log into www.WingsofKilimanjaro.com where real time tracking of the climb and flights will be available as well as a donation page for each of the pilots.
