How to Crowdfund: Crowdfunding and the JOBS Act

Meetup in DC to discuss Crowdfunding. We will provide a quick overview of the JOBS Act and will catalogue current trends and developments in Crowdfunding. This Meetup is limited to 40 attendees.

PRLog - Jan. 24, 2013 - DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, D.C. -- On Wednesday, January 30, 2013, 7:00 PM at the American Legion Kenneth H. Nash Post 8
224 D St SE, Washington, DC 20003, William Michael Cunningham will host a NewME Community meet-up on Crowdfunding.

Crowdfunding works this way: An entrepreneur with an idea for a company or product posts the details of the idea or product on a Web site such as Kickstarter. The posting includes information on the amount of money needed, benefits to those who contribute to the project and information on the developers. The crowdfunding provisions of the JOBS Act allow start-up and other companies to sell up to $1 million in equity, or ownership shares, in their business.

NewME Community meet-ups are informal gatherings for under-represented minorities in the technology industry (African-Americans, Latinos, and Women) and others who support this cause.

The goal of our meet-ups are to network and foster minority tech entrepreneurship in local communities. Meet-ups are organized and ran by NewME Community Organizers and are open to all.
