ALDEBARAN Robotics to BETT on the future of education

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan. 24, 2013 - The company will showcase NAO, its humanoid robot that is used in over 600 universities and schools worldwide, including in the UK.

NAO, which has been designed and developed by ALDEBARAN Robotics, is a 58cm-tall humanoid robot with a sensor network that includes cameras, microphones and pressure sensors, as well as a voice synthesiser and two high-fidelity speakers. The robot is interactive and fully programmable, combining sophisticated embedded software with adaptable educational content. It is already in use in many schools in England.

Employed in some of the most prestigious universities, schools and laboratories, the original NAO robot is the most-used humanoid robot within education globally. NAO is the trusted platform for use in teaching subjects such as computer sciences, mechanics, electronics, physics and mathematics. The NAO robot is used to inspire students to take an interest in these topics, attracting both girls and boys.

ALDEBARAN Robotics is now expanding the reach of NAO to primary schools. This expansion is taking place thanks to partners such as Warwickshire ICT Development Service and UK-based robot specialist Active Robots.

This year, primary and secondary schools in Warwickshire are showing great interest in humanoid robotics, thanks to NAO’s teaching potential and local initiatives pursued by partners such as ICT Development Service and Active Robots.

ALDEBARAN Robotics will showcase NAO at the BETT trade show, which focuses on information-and-communication technology (ICT) in education. Visitors to BETT 2013 will have the opportunity to meet representatives from the company, along with members of the Active Robots team and teachers who have used the NAO: they will all be on Stand C265 from 30 January to 2 February, in London (UK).
