PRLog - Jan. 23, 2013 - On January 27th, 2013, Access California Services will commemorate 14 years of service to the community at its Annual Gala at the Anaheim Hilton Hotel. Coming to a foreign land and establishing a new life for your family is a daunting, and sometimes seemingly impossible task. This is why Nahla Kayali established Access California Services for the Southern California community in 1998. “The number of refugees resettling in Southern California is rapidly increasing. The majority of refugee families are arriving from countries such as Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Afghanistan. These families are making AccessCal their ‘home away from home’.” Nahla continues about AccessCal saying, “On a daily basis our staff members are ensuring refugees and new immigrants have access to culturally and linguistically appropriate services that will help them foster a foundation of security based on wellness and self-sufficiency.”

This year’s Annual Gala boasts a program that will host keynote speaker from The White House, Paul Monteiro (Office of Public Engagement). Paul Monteiro stated to Founder, Nahla Kayali, in regards to the White House honorary Iftar Dinner that "We keep in mind the contributions that various citizens have made to their local communities as we build the guest list. The wonderful work that you and others at AccessCal do each and every day made it wholly appropriate to include you in this year's program." He, as well as Keynote Speaker, Congressman Andre Carson, will be speaking about the importance of giving back to the community in honor of the many who have benefitted from the life-changing services at Access. “I am humbled by the invitation from Nahla Kayali to speak at Access California Services' Power of Giving Annual Gala,” Congressman Andre Carson commented. “After touring Access California, I was greatly inspired by their dedication and commitment to refugee and immigrant families who are in need of a helping hand. Programs such as Access California Services need to be highlighted and recognized so others may learn what it means to truly be an advocate and fighter for those who need it most.”
Also amongst the attendees will be Senator Lou Correa, Anaheim City Council Members and Mayor Tom Tait, who will swear in the AmeriCorps members assigned to help AccessCal with their work for the community.
