Nissan Resonance Concept Wins Best Concept Vehicle Award

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan. 23, 2013 - The EyesOn Design Awards are given to the best production and concept cars that make their North American or worldwide debut at the Detroit Auto Show. In its seventh year, the EyesOn winners are decided by a panel of active and retired designers from automakers, transportation design chairs from top art schools, and designers from other fields.

The Nissan Resonance concept was designed under the guidance of Nissan’s senior vice president and chief creative officer Shiro Nakamura. The sleek crossover concept previews the next-generation Murano and is powered by a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder mated to an electric motor in concept form.

This five-passenger vehicle is powered by an advanced hybrid drivetrain. The heart of the system is a 2.5-liter gasoline four-cylinder engine. It’s backed up by a high-performance electric motor and the company’s latest Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT). A compact lithium-ion battery juices the system. For inclement weather the vehicle is also equipped with all-wheel drive.

Nissan says this car is presented only as a design concept but it wouldn’t be a surprise if the hybrid system made it into a production Nissan.
