Super Bowl Plunge on LBI plans to make a big splash in 2014

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan. 23, 2013 - Friends of Long Beach Island, the St Francis Community Center, Southern Regional Swim Team and the icy cold waters of February in the Atlantic Ocean have decided to take a pass this year and hold out for a Super Plunge for the ages in 2014. The popular winter event brings hundreds of plungers and spectators to the 48th Street Beach in Brant Beach every Super Bowl Sunday. The event was started by Brother Kevin along with swim coaches John Schultz and Billy Entriken to build support for the St Francis Community Center and the Southern Regional High School Swim Team.

In working with the Long Beach Township Beach Patrol, the “Plunge” brings many second home owners, residents, and cold weather enthusiasts to the beach at 1pm each Super Bowl Sunday for a winter fundraiser frolic, then back to the St Francis Community Center for coffee and snacks before returning to the excitement of the day. The excitement that NJ will be in the hub of the professional sports world is  starting to spread and the fact that next year’s big game will be played at the Meadowlands, less than two hours from Long Beach Island will bring more interest to the event.  In the spirit of the game, Super Plange organizers are urging loyal plungers to start planning your teams and sponsors to make this one for the record books.
