Iasa certification integrated in DFK master's program for IT architects in Sweden

Starting 2013, IT architects in Sweden will have access to the internationally recognized Iasa certification through the Master’s program offered by the Swedish Computer Society.

Jan. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- The Swedish Computer Society's training subsidiary Dataföreningen Kompetens has strengthened its partnership with the global organization Iasa, which has certified technology architects in more than fifty countries. Starting 2013, Technology architects in Sweden have access to an internationally recognized certification through the Master’s program offered by the Swedish Computer Society.

At the end of the 1990s, the role of IT architect became established among Swedish companies and organizations. To meet the need for a definition and a unified proof of competence, Dataföreningen Kompetens introduced the master training and certification.

The initiative was very well received in the industry and each year two to three fully booked courses were organized. Today, over 20 trainers are involved in the course program which includes twelve days spanning over six months, located at a boarding venue. Between sessions participants spend over 100 hours on reviewing materials, individual assignments and group work.

Each participant is allocated a mentor who coaches throughout the course and assists with home assignments and white papers. The master training consists of six blocks.

Starting spring of 2013 the Iasa's IFC (Iasa Foundation Certification) is included in the training “Certified IT Architect Master” as an additional block. Previously certified DFK-CIA will also able to add the IFC as an extra block.

“We see Iasa's certification program as a natural next step for our certified IT architects” says Marie Ställvik Sandberg, CEO of Computer Society Skills.

Marie continues: “Swedish companies are becoming more and more internationally engaged, especially within IT projects. International teams require consensus, a common terminology and common standards. This is the core value of what Iasa brings to the global market”.

Iasa's certification program reflects how international organizations view IT architecture and how architectural work should be conducted. Iasa's certification program is therefore suitable for those who also want an internationally viable proof of competence.

Paul Preiss, CEO of Iasa Global explains: “The collaboration with DFK-CIA is very much in line with the Iasa policy of supporting local innovation and leadership in architecture. DFK has a powerful education program and we are very excited to support the program growth in international recognition and integration.”
