PRLog - Jan. 22, 2013 - Wednesday’s Child: One Man’s Life paints a portrait of a man drawn through his poetry. Exploring his experiences beyond verbal language, the poems soar through the era he lived in apartheid South Africa.

Searing his soul with a common nostalgia, author Gerhard Meyer (aka whitedesert) has captivated a full range of emotions that share a common bond with people everywhere. This poetry collection offers enthralling insight into the man, his life, and his African heritage.

“I grew up in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa, but consider the east coast city of Durban in the tropical province of Kwa-Zulu Natal to be my hometown, as this is where I spend most of my young adult life, and had the best times of my life. I am a product of ‘apartheid,’ born in 1954 into a system of ‘official’ racial segregation. Today I look back on that and I go ice cold, but I also look to what is happening across the world, and I fear that racial intolerance is still very much with us, and it makes me fearful for our future. Like so many South Africans, I work outside my country due to lack of opportunities back home, and have been in North Africa working in the ancient city of Cairo now for almost eight years.”
