The DataMaster Transportable (DMT) is a scientific instrument that is designed to analyze a sample of a person’s breath in order to determine their breath alcohol concentration (BAC). The DataMaster analyzes the breath sample by using what is called infrared absorption spectrometry.
The device is designed to perform checks on itself, the surroundings, and the breath sample in order to ensure that testing is performed under the most favorable conditions. The device features a heated breath hose, an RFI antenna, and three IR filters. If the breath hose temperature is not within the preset range, the machine will not allow the test to be completed.
The DMT™ is designed to be used at a fixed site such as a counter top, or for mobile breath alcohol testing at something such as a sobriety checkpoint. The DMT™ uses the proven method of absorption of infrared energy in order to quantify breath ethanol levels, as well as guard against false positives from naturally occurring compounds. The DMT™ device is uses around the world to determine breath alcohol concentration.
Training for the DataMaster DMT includes theory of operation, the training discusses how the alcohol found in beer, wine and spirits is ethanol, and how ethanol in the human body over time goes through the process of absorption, distribution and elimination.
The DataMaster DMT is a breath testing instrument that measures the absorption of infrared energy (light) by ethanol which is in a gaseous state. The DataMaster DMT is one the U.S. Department of Transportation’
