Florida Occupational Therapists Continuing Education and License Renewals

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan. 21, 2013 - Florida-licensed occupational therapists have a biennial license renewal with a deadline of February 28th, odd years. Twenty-six (26) continuing education hours are required to renew a license. Of the 26 hours, twelve (12) hours is allowed from home study. For initial licensing, two hours of medical errors and one hour of HIV is required. For license renewals, two hours of medical errors and two hours of Florida OT Laws and Rules is required. The board accepts AOTA approval of continuing education.

The main goal of continuing education is to assure the highest possible standards for the occupational therapist profession. All licensees are required to participate in continuing educational activities that will build upon existing knowledge and competencies gained from prior educational experiences.

Of the twenty-six (26) hours, twelve hours of continuing education can be earned through home study.
