Pen Center Usa Presents: The Rattling Wall In San Diego

The popular Los Angeles-based literary journal is heading south for a reading featuring David L. Ulin, Jim Ruland, Amy Wallen, and James Meetze.

Jan. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- PEN Center USA will present The Rattling Wall at San Diego Writers, Ink (The Ink Spot, 710 13th Street, Suite 210, San Diego, CA 92101) on January 26, 2012. Doors for the event will open at 7 PM. The reading will begin at 7:30 PM and will feature Los Angeles Times book critic David L. Ulin (The Lost Art of Reading: Why Books Matter in a Distracted Time); Vermin on The Mount creator Jim Ruland (Big Lonesome); Savory Salons creator Amy Wallen (MoonPies and Movie Stars); and James Meetze (Dayglo). A book signing and drinks will follow the reading. The Rattling Wall, published twice each year by Narrow Books, specializes in short fiction, travel essays, and poetry.

The Rattling Wall, Issue 3, features new work by: Sean Carswell, Weston Cutter, Trinie Dalton, Ben Epstein, Matthew Fluharty, Panio Gianopoulos, Benj Hewitt, Rhoda Huffey, Mandy Kahn, Sophie Klahr, Jim Krusoe, Joseph Lapin, Jillian Lauren, Suzanne Lummis, S.P. MacIntyre, Bev Magennis, Joseph Mattson, Kyle McCord, James Meetze, Joshua Mohr, Amelia Morris, Angel Nafis, Emily Rapp, Kate Reeves, Rachel Reynolds, Brian Rooney, Marytza K. Rubio, Robert Silva, David L. Ulin, Amy E. Wallen, Kim Young, and an excerpt from the forthcoming novella Daddy Love, by Joyce Carol Oates.

The Rattling Wall, Issue 3, features artwork by Ben Tegel. Tegel illustrates for books and magazines (Flaunt, Beautiful/Decay), for music venues (House of Blues, Viper Room), and for T-shirts (Hello Minor, B/D Apparel, Das Monk).

The Rattling Wall is edited by Michelle Meyering, who is Director of Programs and Events at PEN Center USA. Meyering, recently named a 2012 Face to Watch by the Los Angeles Times, holds degrees from University of Redlands and American University. She currently teaches in the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program.

PEN Center USA, a literary nonprofit based in Beverly Hills, has a membership of more than 600 professional writers.
