Lohri: the festival of harvesting, celebrated at JBKP

Jan. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- Faridabad, January 2013:- One of the most popular festivals in north India, Lohri was celebrated by JB Knowledge Park with a great pomp and show. Dr. R.P Singh, Director of JBKP welcomed everyone with throwing light on importance of Lord Sun and its relevance with Lohri festival. Along with Dean Dr. Harshit Sinha, other faculty members and students were also present on the occasion.

On the occasion Director R.P Singh said, “Lohri is a festival of thanking nature. It provides the opportunity to fill social gaps. It has a special significance in terms of harvesting crops. Being an agrarian country, it is very important festival for India. With harvesting its importance lies in winter solstice.”

The festival of Lohri brings happiness for every class and age people of north India. Lohri is meant to relieve people from worldly day to day routine, and make them relaxed, cheerful and happy. Lohri is considered as a festival of farmers. Farmers dedicate their crop to God in the form of bonfire and wish for their health wealth and prosperity. The same environment was felt at JBKP. Students tapped their toes on filmi songs like “… lo aagyi lohri ve… Punjabi boliyaan meant for lohri like “sunder mundariye.” and many others.  Faculty members also took the privilege of this moment. Everyone enjoyed bhangra beats on dhol.
