The deliberation process for this award is grueling, as each class of vehicle is voted upon by a panel of 49 automotive journalists from all over the region. The eclectic mix of writers and reviewers from both the United States and Canada serves for a expert and neutral view, which makes the Ram 1500’s award all the more gratifying for the Jackson Dodge staff, who have been outspoken about its merits.
In order to be considered for the award, a vehicle must either be an entirely new line or changed fundamentally in order to classify it as a new generation of the vehicle. After weighing all the options, the field is then narrowed to around 10 nominees, at which point the aforementioned 49 journalists vote for the winner.
The Ram brand was quite enthused at the news, as it hasn’t won the award since the inaugural year for the ceremony: back in 1994. It’s easy to see why it won out over the competition this year with its best-in-class fuel economy at 7.8L/100km and the option for an incredibly powerful engine in the 5.7L Hemi V8. Ram reworked the entire makeup of the truck for the 2013 model year and thus made it eligible for the award for the first time in almost twenty years.
The 2013 line of Ram 1500s are still available for purchase for those wishing to own the best of the best. Jackson Dodge can be contacted online or by phone at (886) 615-6841 for questions regarding the 1500 or any other Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, or Ram model.
