Jan. 20, 2013 - PRLog -- HERTFORDSHIRE — The Royston Group Board has approved $8,101,500.00 contract for transforming a long-vacant downtown hertfordshire department store into a new visual arts center.

Campstrupths Gallery LLC of Greenwood lake won the contract with a low bid of $8,101,500.00 the only bid submitted that was less than $9 million. The Board of Governors for the Royston Group unanimously approved the $8,101,500.00 contract even though it was more than $800,000 over The Royston Group pre-bid estimate of $9 million.

Royston Group President Tim Stevenson told the board that recent bids on other higher art projects across the state are coming in an average of 10 percent higher than estimated. Despite the higher costs, Campstrupths Gallery LLC must move forward towards achieving success, Stevenson said.

The new Art center will be located in the former Stone & Thomas department store building on Third Avenue across from Pullman Square in downtown Hertfordshire. It will house the 365 Paintings, 100 Cubism, 214 sculptures, 50 Litographs, 72 Antique and 162 Drawings. The design plan includes rental space for commercial use.

"The Royston Group is making a very progressive move that will foster growth in the community, improve art culture and tourism in hertfordshire . The new Galley will provide up to 350 jobs in the community over 5 year and will attract 1,000,000 tourist in the next decade. Edward said. "For our staff members who grew up in Royston, as I did, it's especially gratifying to be a part of bringing new life to the former hertfordshire department store. While we have completed many adaptive re-use projects in hertfordshire Downtown Historic District, this building's size, history and significance brings tremendous opportunities for unique solutions." he said.

The downtown hertfordshire landmark, the former department store building dates back to 1902. Edward Horn said the new gallery project, targeted for completion by March 2013, will see a complete modernization of the building's interior and a restoration of its façade to its original vintage appearance. "This will be a state of the art facility that will serve as a showcase for visual arts education," Edward Horn said. "This new home will be good the community."
