San Diego Boca FC Opens 2013 Pre-Season Campaign with 3-1 Win Over OC Crew 

Jan. 20, 2013 - PRLog -- January 20, 2013 - San Diego, CA - San Diego Boca FC (1-0-0)  scored its first win of the 2013 campaign with a 3-1 Win over the OC Crew today a Madison High School in its first pre-season match of the year. The match was the first of several pre-season matches as San Diego Boca FC prepares for its NPSL Season League Opener in early April at Balboa Stadium in Downtown.
 
San Diego Boca FC started off the new year with a bit of a new look with several newly signed players getting the start along with a core of returning players from 2012.
 
To start the match, Boca took the lead in the first half in the 33rd minute with a header from returning forward Brett Haase who headed in a nice cross from newly signed Midfielder Berrick Rastok. Boca ended up with two additional goals by newcomer and local player Fabian Machado who looked solid in the midfield for Boca throughout the match. Fabian worked hard to earn two goals in the 45th and 55th minutes from deep shots at the top of the box. 
 
Defensively, San Diego Boca FC looked solid as Goalkeepers Grant Essig and Tad Caraway split time in the nets with Essig getting a shut out in the first half and Tad Caraway playing very well in the second half. Boca Team Captain and Central Defender Brent Zuniga and newly signed defender, Joe Schloss , did well to combine in the middle to keep things under control in the back.
 
San Diego Boca FC Head Coach Karim Ben Mazuk commented, "We are happy to get the victory over the OC Crew to start the 2013 pre-season. Winning is a trend and we want to establish that trend but more importantly we want to see what we have in terms of the players on the field. We have a partially revamped team from last year but at the same time we have been able to keep our core players. Today, we played without several players due to injury and yet we still were able to establish a decent rhythm at times during the match. I liked what I saw with several players today. We have a long way to go but we have to start somewhere and today was a good win to start things off."
