California counties are just beginning to approve specific bloodborne pathogens training classes for body art professionals.
So far, the following California counties have approved Bloodborne Pathogens Training and Infection Control for Body Art Professionals or have recognized the Body Art Training Group as a provider of bloodborne pathogens training: Amador, Butte, El Dorado, Kern, Lassen, Nevada, Orange, Sacramento, San Bernardino (on-site training only), San Diego, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Sonoma, Solano, Stanislaus, Ventura, and Yolo. The remaining counties have not yet publicly approved or recognized specific courses or trainers.
Los Angeles body artists have to meet special training requirements. The Department of Public Health, County of Los Angeles, requires all body art practitioners to take an in-person 8-hour bloodborne pathogens exposure control training course. Body Art Training Group instructor Kathy Hartman (Trainer Accreditation Number 12-004) is one of the instructors authorized to teach this course.
Besides California, the Body Art Training Group's online bloodborne pathogens classes have been approved or recognized by: the American Electrology Association, the State of Hawaii Department of Health, the Iowa Department of Public Health, the Kansas Board of Cosmetology, the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, the Mississippi State Department of Health, the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, the Oregon Health Licensing Agency, the Washington State Department of Licensing, and the Denver Department of Environmental Health.
Body Art Training Group instructor Kathy Hartman was selected by the California Conference of Directors of Environmental Health to give bloodborne pathogens training at many of their state-wide Safe Body Art Act training sessions which were offered from January to June 2012.
The California Department of Public Health has designated Your Training Place Online, an affiliate of Body Art Training Group, as a continuing education Accreditation Agency for registered environmental health specialists.
