An End of an Era... InterContinental at Doral Miami

Jan. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Last month Mr. Marti was promoted to Director of Operations of the Marriott brand properties of Real Hotels & Resorts, parent company of the InterContinental at Doral Miami, headquartered in Central America. Mr. Marti will oversee properties in Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Panama, and will be responsible for new projects in Central and South America.

In 2001, Mr. Marti was named general manager of the newly inaugurated InterContinental West Miami. During his tenure, he oversaw an expansion that created a total of 265 sleeping rooms and close to 10,000 square feet of meeting and ballroom space, making it the second largest hotel in Doral.

Under Mr. Marti’s leadership, the hotel earned the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Green Lodging designation in 2009. He was also instrumental in changing the hotel’s name to InterContinental at Doral Miami in 2010. Other honors and distinctions earned include the Expedia Insiders’ Select™, Gold Club Award, AAA Four Diamond Award, and the International Hotel Group (IHG) Turning Point Award.

Mr. Marti is no stranger to Real Hotels & Resorts as he has been with the company since 1995 holding management position with the group’s various properties in Central America. He is from Barcelona, Spain where he earned his BS in Hospitality from the Universidad de Barcelona. Furthermore, he is a die-hard fan of the Futbol Club Barcelona (FC Barcelona) or “Barça”.
