PRLog - Jan. 18, 2013 - BELMONT, Calif. -- This coming Sunday, January 20, 2013, Gregory James will debut his 11th release on Valence Records called "Cult of Beauty" with a performance at the Red Devil Lounge.  The San Francisco born contemporary jazz guitarist released the album in early winter to a select group of audiophiles who called this recording the best fusion album in years, likening it to John McLaughlin's early performances.  Some of that might be attributed to Kai Eckhardt on bass, who also recorded and toured with John McLaughlin.  The Gregory James Quartet includes the Egyptian keyboard phenom, Osam Ezzeldin and Deszon Claiborne on drums, well known to the local music community.

You can hear the Gregory James Quartet perform live on Sunday, Jan 20, 2013 at the Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco.   Along with the Quartet will be Valence artist Emily Palen who has been mesmerizing audiences with her violin improvisations.  Palen will also be releasing her second album on Valence Records, "Creation".

James most recent find is singer-songwriter, Nikki Borodi, who will be opening up the evening with songs she wrote for her upcoming CD.

The evening show at the Red Devil Lounge starts at 7:30 (doors open at 7pm).  More information is available at http://reddevillounge.com.

As James previous albums, "Cult of Beauty" was recorded to analog tape and DSD super resolution audio to have greater appeal to fans who appreciate high quality sound.  James and his label, Valence Records, are among the first labels to release music in DSD (Direct Stream Digital) audio.  Engineered by Cookie Marenco, a leader in promoting DSD audio and founder of Blue Coast Records, the recording took place at her private facility using the finest tracking gear available.

The title track, "Cult of Beauty", has already been selected for a prestigious spot on an album called Producer’s Choice, from Blue Coast Records.  Other sidemen include Enrique Padilla · congas, Emily Palen · violin and Baron Shul · flute.
