“We have many more new families who are unable to purchase school supplies in the New Year,” said Carolyn Thompson, Tri-Coastal executive director. Last year, they provided book bags and supplies for over 927 children from Pre-K--grade 12. “Families in need have continued to increase, due to the current economic climate in our community,” said Thompson. She concludes that their program fills a need to continue to help children with supplies for the second part of the year. It is not only as important to make sure that all children are equally prepared with the necessary supplies at the beginning of school; it is just as critical to make sure they have supplies for the second quarter.” . Tri-Coastal Community Outreach, Inc., is a community-based organization, providing short-term and long-term outreach assistance to families in Mobile County and the Gulf Coast region. Financial contributions may be made online at www.tricoastalcommunity.org. Donations are tax-deductible.
