January, 2013 - The International Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association's (IFWTWA) prestigious Excellence Awards are awarded quarterly and recognize the best of the best in culinary and hospitality around the world. The award nominations are recommended by IFWTWA members, carefully evaluated by IFWTWA's Excellence Awards Committee, and finally approved by IFWTWA's Board of Directors.
Recipients for the 4th nd quarter of 2012 include the following two Destination Marketing Awards:
Douglas MacKenzie ~ Director of Communications
GREATER PHOENIX CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU
Douglas was nominated for his availability and responsiveness to journalist requests and questions, he proactively provides relevant story ideas and angles, has a well-designed and easy to navigate website. He provides well-written and thorough fact sheets about the destination and its points of interest, is well-connected with excellent sources in the region, provides an excellent variety of hi-res images upon request at no charge, and is available to coordinate individual familarization trips upon request for qualifying journalists. Douglas also offers interesting press trips with a variety of activities and access to excellent resources. He proactively stays in touch with journalists by sending destination-

The writer who nominated Jacquie had this to say, “I have been part of many good media trips. However, Jacqueline Cartier went above and beyond expected measures. Working with Annette Bagley, we had the best resource guide, itinerary I have experienced. Her willingness to accommodate special requests was outstanding and she did a superlative job on finalizing details and keeping the group engaged. Her follow through after the trip has continued to be impressive.
