Norstrem, a four-time state wrestling champion and one-time national wrestling champion, maintains a 5.39 GPA (with weighted classes) and has represented the USA as a wrestler in Austria and Bulgaria.
Norstrem attributes much of his success to his coach, Russ Cozart.
“Coach Cozart is always driving me to reach the ‘next level’,” Norstrem said. “He has coached me since I was five.”
Norstrem plans to wrestle for four years at Virginia Tech University and hopes to go on to be a graduate assistant there while he obtains his master’s degree. He will also join Virginia Tech’s wakeboarding team.

NHSCA and GTM Sportswear honor one deserving high school athlete each month from September 2012 through April 2013. NHSCA coaches nominate commendable athletes through the NHSCA website. Each month, six finalists are selected by the NHSCA and presented via ballot to a group of high school sports writers, high school coaches and NHSCA and GTM Sportswear representatives to choose the winner. Out of the eight recipients of the monthly award, one athlete will be chosen as the GTM Sportswear Athlete of the Year in May 2013.
