PRLog - Jan. 17, 2013 - HIAWATHA, Iowa -- Pat McGrath Dodge Country is delighted to announce that the Ram 1500 has been selected as the Truck of the year at the 2013 North American International Auto Show. The Ram 1500 won on the merits of its recent overhaul, which included updated styling, new technological and convenience features, as well as an updated powertrain.
2013 Dodge Ram 1500
The 2013 Ram 1500 received a number of features unique to full-size pickups. One of the major revisions from its predecessor included an eight-speed automatic transmission — a first in the segment — which produces drastically improved fuel economy. Features like lower weight and improved aerodynamics also make the Ram 1500 a more fuel-efficient vehicle than ever before. The Ram also got the option of a Pentastar V6, which has received recognition as one of Ward’s 10 Best Engines. Available in the Ram 1500 HFE, the Pentastar generates 305 hp and results in an impressive 25 mpg on the highway when paired with the eight-speed automatic transmission.
Ram CEO Fred Diaz said that the Ram 1500 redesign came after his boss, Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne, told him to “Go big or go home.”
The vehicle of the year awards are determined by a jury of 49 auto journalists, editors, and reporters. These awards are given out every year after a long selection process that includes test sessions with all nominated vehicles. These awards are unique and prestigious in part because they do not come from any individual publication or media body — the inclusion of a multiplicity of opinions lends a significant amount of credibility to the awards. 2013 marks the 20th anniversary of the awards.
