Rosemary Waller, customer relations manager at Colne View care home, said: “It was a great day. We were joined by lots of carers and we were able to pamper them with aromatherapy and reflexology as well as giving them lunch where they could sit and talk to other carers and members of our team to get ideas and swap experiences.
“When you care for an older person, especially if they are living with dementia, you have a unique set of challenges. It is really helpful to talk to other people who have had the same type of experiences and share ideas and realise you are not alone.”
There was also information and support on hand from financial advisors, Age UK, MacMillan, Action for Family Carers and the Alzheimer’s Society. Rosemary added: “It was a very uplifting day. We were joined for a session of Zumba Gold by some of the residents and service users and the Alzheimer’s Society team organised a session of Singing for the Brain which everyone joined in and enjoyed.”
