PRLog - Jan. 17, 2013 - When the children fly the nest, the large family home can feel empty and become more of a struggle to maintain. Many people in this position look to downsize at some point, with retirement bringing them the perfect chance.
The Jasmine house type at Laurel Grove
This is exactly what a local retired couple chose to do. Mike and Jenny Hall, from Cheadle, were looking to downsize from their detached family home, while still living near to their children and grandchildren. They wanted to move closer to their family, and the Peveril Homes development, in Uttoxeter, was the perfect place for them.
Mike said: “We had looked at new apartments in the area, but, after a lot of shopping around, seeing what we could get for our money and what we really wanted in a new home, we felt that a garden was a main requirement.”
After lots of research in the area, they found the Jasmine house type, at Laurel Grove, to be the solution to their needs. The semi-detached property features a well-sized, yet manageable, garden, an open-plan lounge and dining room, a kitchen and a cloakroom. The first floor benefits from three well-proportioned bedrooms and a family bathroom.
Mike continues: “The Jasmine house type was the ideal property to which to downsize. The location was the first thing which won us over. We didn’t want to live on an estate, and Laurel Grove is in such a great spot, with amenities nearby, yet is a small development in a quiet, private setting. We had a garden at our old house, but wanted a smaller one which would be easier to look after. The Jasmine had just this.”
When the couple enquired at the Laurel Grove sales office, they discussed what their options were. After negotiating with the friendly sales adviser, the Halls found that the show home was the place which they had been seeking.
Without having maintenance work to do on the house, Mike and former interior design consultant Jenny had time to add their personal touch to the décor throughout the house.
Mike concludes: “A new home was just what we wanted, as we didn’t want the hassle of having work to do on the property – we wanted to simply move in and enjoy our retirement. The sales adviser couldn’t have been more helpful throughout and made the whole process stress free.
“We love being close to our children and grandchildren and enjoy having them over to visit. Since moving in, friends have come to visit and were so impressed with the place that they are looking into buying one for themselves.”
Angela Thomas, sales and marketing manager for Peveril Homes, says: “We’re delighted that Mike and Jenny are happy and settled in their new home. The development is great for downsizers – being spacious enough, yet easy to maintain. We hope that they enjoy many happy years of living at Laurel Grove.”
These properties offer a great chance for both first-time buyers and downsizers to enjoy the benefits of living close to the countryside, while being a commutable distance from major towns and cities. For commuters, the A50 is just moments away, providing great links to the M6 and M1, for travel further afield.
