Leaders In Heels awarded #1 position in Top Sites To Love For Women Entrepreneurs in 2013

Kasia Gospos; Founder of Leaders in Heels shares the inspiration behind the magazine.

Jan. 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Leaders in Heels, an online magazine dedicated to women in business has been awarded the #1 position in a public poll conducted by She Owns It (a site committed to empowering women entrepreneurs by offering resources, support and inspiration). Leaders in Heels beat 43 other websites including Business Chicks to emerge in the #1 position. Kasia Gospos, founder of Leaders in Heels says, “It’s such an honour for Leaders in Heels to be awarded the top position, especially considering we were up against established organisations like Business Chicks, we are so pleased!”

When Kasia, a native from Poland moved to Sydney in 2008 she was surprised to learn that unlike her native country, many Australian women not only worked part time but also dedicated their energies outside of the office to pursue their passions. In October 2011, she founded Leaders in Heels (http://leadersinheels.com/), which started off as a blog dedicated to empowering and educating women to take responsibility for their careers and lives.

Leaders in Heels quickly transitioned into an online magazine after receiving over 50 emails some days from experts wanting to be contributors. In a few short months, the magazine has grown exponentially from just a few contributors to over twenty regular contributors and three editors. Kasia emphasises, “I started Leaders in Heels because I knew I wanted to share my experiences and empower women to be more independent and self-confident.”

She continues, “I realised that there is nothing more exciting and empowering than meeting powerful and successful women for interviews. I changed the theme to resemble a magazine and it started growing like a geometric sequence because of more women joining our contributors’ team some of them located overseas. Now Leaders in Heels has three amazing female editors dedicated to Career, Business, Technology, Lifestyle and Styling sections while I concentrate on website and business development, security and online marketing”.

Kasia’s vision and goal for Leaders in Heels is for it to become the first preferred website for women in business worldwide and to lift the magazine’s profile.  Part of this vision includes showcasing successful women at the top of their game; most recently interviewed CEO of Ogilvy PR, Kieran Moore (http://leadersinheels.com/career/kieran-moore-ceo-of-ogil...) and Microsoft Australia Managing Director, Pip Marlow (http://leadersinheels.com/career/microsoft-managing-direc...).

Based on a similar online model to Huffington Post in the US, the magazine reflects many of Kasia’s own personal qualities. She explains, “My mum embedded in my mind that education and self-dependence is very important for every woman. My father passed away when I was thirteen and my mum who was then in a senior position in a large organisation, was able to support me and my brother, send us to good universities, and eventually became a Director in the company my father held shares in. This was my inspiration to start a forum like Leaders in Heels: to educate and empower women to take responsibility for themselves and their lives".

Future strategies for Leaders in Heels include hosting a forum for women to be able to exchange ideas, a networking event in 2013, a mentoring program for young women and a business directory for women-owned businesses.
