First Fight Night of 2013 to include WBC Title Fight

Jan. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- For the past 10yrs, Rings of Dreams has brought the best boxing and mixed martial arts to Winston-Salem; that tradition will continue in 2013 as the first “Fight Night” of will include a battle for the WBC Intercontinental Title.   Yes, you read correctly, in just four short weeks, the vacant Light Heavyweight WBC Intercontinental Title will be on the line between area favorites Derek “The Black Lion” Edwards and Anthony “The Tyger” Hanshaw.    With both boxers having near perfect records (26-2 and 23-2 respectively) and having battled some well known opponents; this title fight should be a real battle to the end.  This is definitely an event that fans will not want to miss.

In addition to the title match, there will be eight MMA/Cage matchups (3 amateur and 5 pro) and three more professional boxing matches.   As of this printing, the MMA/Cage matchups had not been set but you can be sure they will not disappoint.  The 3 other professional boxing matches are as follows:

David Saulsberry vs Josh Tufte – 8 rounds

Keandre Leatherwood vs Norman Allen – 6 rounds

Greg Newby vs TBA – 4/6 rounds

And that’s just the first “Fight Night”.   Rings of Dreams, like everyone else over the last few years, has been hit pretty hard by the economy.   In order to keep things going, promoter Kerry Smith has had to adjust in various areas.   However, as evident by this first “Fight Night” of 2013, there are bigger and better things coming so be sure to get your tickets to this event now and keep checking back for updates (including pre-fight weigh-ins and after fight party info) at our website, Facebook page and Twitter account.
