Follow on Google News | Anittel Connects First Commercial NBN Service to Armidale Dumaresq CouncilASX-listed IT services provider Anittel Group has provisioned its first commercial National Broadband Network (NBN) customer in Armidale Dumaresq Council in NSW.
By: Anittel Head Office Armidale Dumaresq Mayor Jim Mahar stated, “Having an establishment that demonstrates the capabilities of the National Broadband Network is a true asset to the Armidale Dumaresq Community. The Armidale Digital Hub provides local residents with one of the first opportunities to experience this service and explore the benefits of the largest infrastructure project in Australia’s history.” The 2 year agreement was finalised late last year, enabling the NBN connection to go live in November. It is now been fully utilised by council staff. Through the Digital Hub Program, organisations and citizens in the area will also be able to connect to the NBN, expanding the benefits of the next generation network service to the wider community. Anittel Regional Manager David McGill commented, “It is a huge pleasure to provide our first commercial NBN service to Armidale Council; it is fitting that the region so pivotal in trialling the NBN is providing an NBN Digital Hub for the whole community to understand the benefits of the new network.” NBN Co Head of Product Management and Industry Relations, Jim Hassell said, “We are pleased to welcome Anittel to the NBN, particularly given their focus on regional Australia. It is pleasing to see the development of retail competition in regional areas.” Anittel Managing Director & Executive Chairman Peter Kazacos commented, “The NBN is a platform for economic growth in regional Australia. Armidale organisations will now be able to find new efficiencies through new online ‘cloud’ based services, enabling them to connect more effectively with their market opportunities." As the NBN continues to rollout across Australia, Anittel is engaging in discussions with other Local Governments and business community groups to assess NBN connectivity service options. End
