Humans Replacing Computers in Telecom Industry

Live In-Country Telephone Number Testing Ensures Customer Retention
By: Global Telecom Testing, LLC

Jan. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Global telecom companies rely on local PTT’s (local exchange carrier partners) in cities abroad to confirm Worldwide telephone numbers are operational. For telecom companies, we are talking about their business’ lifeblood – communications. The risk of relying on the local PTT’s that the numbers are operational is much like playing Russian roulette with incredibly high stakes - customer retention & revenues. More often than not, even though the local PTT confirms a number is operational, the number doesn’t work.

For example, if a telecom client needs international numbers in Singapore, a computer at a U.S. telecom company office tests the numbers from a switch in the U.S. to a switch somewhere close to Singapore. If the switch-to-switch test works, the numbers are released to the client. However, this rudimentary testing is inaccurate and not indicative of operational numbers.

Reliable Service Equals Satisfied Customers

The only way to 100% verify that international telephone numbers are operational in any Worldwide city is to perform live, In-Country, outbound test calls in those cities/locations. This testing identifies problems before telecom clients are assigned the numbers, which ensures customers are satisfied and will continue to lease numbers from the telco.

QoS (Quality Of Service) and the customer’s overall user experience are especially critical in today's economic climate. Declining revenues for telecom providers has caused some companies to make reductions in staffing, facilities, and services. Others have merged with partners to increase profitability, but the result doesn’t always benefit the customer due to the staffing and service reductions that accompany every merger.

Thousands of worldwide numbers issued annually require verification & testing prior to delivery (pre-deployment testing), and post-deployment monitoring. This testing and monitoring ensures that the numbers provided to your customers are operational numbers.

Global Telecom Testing (GTT) performs In-Country Live Telephone Number & IVR Platform Testing in 190 Countries. GTT’s technicians make Live outbound originating test calls from worldwide cities from landline & mobile networks in order to verify that newly provisioned international telephone numbers and IVR Platforms are operational prior to delivery. GTT also provides rapid In-Country service issue resolution.

Detailed Call Display Records are generated for each test call made by GTT’s technicians which explains whether any service issue(s) are a carrier related problem or are a problem within the country. Common Quality Of Service issues discovered by GTT’s In-Country Live Testing are improper carrier provisioning, improper passcode designation, improper message authentication, echo, static, post dial delay, network inaccessibility, and carrier activation failures.

The testing performed by GTT is performed by humans guaranteeing performance at a level that cannot be achieved through computerized testing. We use humans to test, NOT machines!
