As part of its on-going campaigns, the portal recently concluded a contest for its fans / users, for the festive, Christmas and New Year’s period, ending on 3rd January, 2013. The contest encouraged participants to add their special Christmas and New Year recipes and rewarded the 4 most popular recipes with Gift Vouchers from Prestige, worth Rs. 1000/- each.
Many recipes and registrations were received on the website during this period. The contest gave participants a chance to showcase their creativity and display their cooking skills by adding original recipes. Recipes like Royal Christmas Pudding, Stuffed Chicken with Minced Meat and Vegetables, Guava Cheese, Christmas Cinnamon Cookies, Swiss Tarts, etc. were contributed by participants.
Recipes were selected on the basis of their popularity and points receive. Points were awarded to recipes based on the comments and votes received from users, number of times the recipe was shared via the mail sending option on the website, how many people viralled the recipe on social networks.
Following the success of this contest, Prestige SmartChef decided to introduce new features on the website such as Photo Recipe, Video Recipe, Cooking Tips and Social Bookmarking.
Photo Recipe:- The photo recipe option will allow users to contribute step-by-step preparation photos of their recipes. Users can add photos of every step and explain them in detail. The main focus here would be the cleanliness maintained while preparing the dish and the overall presentation of the final dish.
Video Recipe:- Video recipe will let users put up videos of themselves preparing their recipe. Additionally, users can also write down and contribute the recipe. This will make their recipes more searchable in Google and other such search engines.
Cooking Tips:- Cooking tips will be a section on the website where a user can write his own cooking / kitchen / home remedy etc. tips related to the website glossary and view tips posted by other users. Only registered members of the website can view this section.
