Follow on Google News | Acclaimed Dallas Chefs to Participate in 3rd Annual Symphony of Chefs Fine Dining EventThe third annual “Symphony of Chefs” on February 25, 2013 will fund children’s Music Therapy initiatives in North Texas. Chefs from the Wild Mushroom and The Grotto returning to the event.
By: Symphony of Chefs Symphony of Chefs attendees will experience an evening of fine dining with each chef preparing a five-course dinner tableside exclusively for a table of 10 guests. The chefs will create their own menu, select complementing wines, and interact with table guests while preparing their gastronomical masterpiece. All proceeds from the event will be used to fund several North Texas therapeutic music programs for children that are critically ill or have developmental delays. These organizations include Cook Children’s Medical Center, Ft. Worth, and Hurst-based Hugworks, Children’s Medical Center Music Therapy Program and SMU/Hugworks Music Therapy Program. Co-chairs of this year’s Symphony of Chefs are Bonnie & Nathan Shea and Kaari & Jim Wicklund. Chef Jerrett Joslin is the Co-owner and Executive Chef of the Wild Mushroom Steak House and Lounge in Weatherford, Texas. Chef Joslin is a well-known figure in the Fort Worth dining scene, having served as a co-owner, executive chef and manager of numerous popular hot spots including the Bent Lounge, Bar 9, and Sodo Grill. Prior to opening The Wild Mushroom, he was the owner and executive chef of Randall’s Gourmet Cheesecake. Under his leadership, the restaurant received the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator Magazine for wine selections and menus. Randall’s was also voted one of the “Most Romantic Restaurants in Texas” by Gourmet Magazine in 2003. Since its opening in 2009, The Wild Mushroom has been named as one of FW Magazine’s Best of 2011”Worth the Drive” restaurants. The Wild Mushroom was also chosen for the Best Prime Rib and Best Mac n Cheese by FW Magazine. Chef Morris Salerno is executive chef and owner of the Grotto, an upscale steakhouse in Highland Village, Texas. In 2005, Salerno and his team of culinary experts at The Grotto earned top honors in the Iron Chef of the Southwest Competition hosted by the Texas Chefs Association. Salerno's team was awarded the gold medal after preparing a three course meal from a basket of surprise ingredients within a two hour time limit. Salerno also has a published cookbook, “Morris' Way”, full of all his favorite recipes. Most recently, he was part of a Texas team that received a bronze medal at the 2012 World Culinary Olympics. A Symphony of Chefs will be held at the Petroleum Club, Dallas on Monday, February 25, 2013. It is open to the public with tables for 10 ranging in price from $5,000 to $25,000, and a limited number of individual seats are available for $1,000.
