Jan. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- As an industry leader in both audio and infotainment, Harman has collaborated with several automakers recently to integrate their home-grown high-tech wizardry into vehicle interface systems. The staff at Motor Werks BMW (http://www.motorwerksbmwbarrington.com/index.htm), a premier BMW dealership in Barrington, Illinois, are quite excited about the announcement of Harman’s collaboration with BMW and rightly so.

Introduced at CES 2013 in Las Vegas, ConnectDrive transforms your vehicle into a mobile office while maintaining driver safety by eliminating excessive distractions with an innovative Human Machine Interface (HMI).

Featuring a 1.3GHz processor and a 1280x480 high-resolution display, and providing three-D menus and streamlined options, Harman has designed the system weight and size to minimize the bulkiness and excessive heat production that has been the drawback of former infotainment systems, thus contributing to overall better fuel efficiency.

With many all-new industry firsts, such as voice recognition to dictate email and text messages, as well as to allow hands-free access to social media networks, Internet radio, and other web-based services, ConnectDrive is a dynamic, one-of-a-kind, user-friendly interface.

The navigation feature renders a birds-eye view of city streets in 3D, and provides weather updates and information on available local services. The “one-shot” entry into the navigation system is another bold innovation, which allows drivers to type in the street, or address, and city of your destination, in what Harman describes as “one natural sequence”.

With an eye to the future, Harman has even provided an option to upload third-party apps that may be developed down the road, ensuring that this will remain the most cutting-edge, state-of-the-art in-vehicle navigation/infotainment system in production to-date.

The ConnectDrive infotainment demo at CES was onboard a BMW 3 Series that was parked at the Harman booth. The system will be made available on BMW 3 Series, 5 Series, and 7 Series models starting later this month.

To learn more about this exciting new-generation infotainment system, individuals should come to Motor Werks BMW, located at 1475 South Barrington Road, in Barrington, IL, which is just across the street from The Oaks of Barrington. Their dealership is only minutes away from Naperville, Hoffman Estates, and Chicago. Contact the dealership (http://www.motorwerksbmwbarrington.com/contact-form.htm) by calling 1-866-895-7310.
